Shopping is also great draw along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock and Jonker Street/Jonker Walk, where many beautiful Peranakan craft and porcelain items can be found. Continental breakfast can be enjoyed in the lobby-café. We also serve hot and cold drinks and snacks throughout the day, and you are welcome to kick back, relax and read a book or the paper in the cool calm of our airwells or in the contemporary surround of our lobby-cafe. We also provide a simple drinks and snacks room service menu for those who do not wish to leave the privacy of their rooms.

The Peranakan townhouse in which the Heeren Palm Suites is housed is protected by the UNESCO World Heritage. The Straits Eclectic architecture with its interesting mix of Dutch style and Peranakan flair is reminiscent of a by-gone era of East meets West. Built long and narrow, the townhouse has three characteristic airwells that interspace the long narrow throughway to the back. These allow fresh air to circulate through the building as the airwells open to the sky. Natural light also floods the townhouse through these airwells.

Some of the conservation efforts made to restore the Hotel’s townhouse building include the vividly coloured Peranakan wall mouldings and plaster renderings in the Hotel’s front façade. Much of the timber ceiling beams have also been sympathetically refurbished, and the walls have been painted thoroughly with ground sea shell calcium paint to allow the walls to breathe.

We have combined these aspects of heritage conservation with modern luxurious fittings and finishes, such as Italian marble and contemporary light fixtures. We teamed interesting styles in each of the suites and designed luxurious Italian marble bathrooms with sensuous rain showers in guest rooms. This seamless fusion of antique and contemporary has enabled us to create a luxurious boutique hotel which we hope would enable our guests to have an enjoyable and pleasurable stay in Malacca.
